Fright Night Part 2

(Tommy Lee Wallace, USA, 1989)

The original Fright Night (1985) proposed an ingenious combination of vampire horror, teenage anxiety and self-reflexive comedy centred on a Deadly Earnest-type TV host (Roddy McDowall).

The sequel (energetically directed by Tommy Lee Wallace) re-uses these elements, adding camp theatrics (with Julie Carmen as a punkish vamp), plus heightened sound effects and camera angles straight out of The Lost Boys (1987).

William Ragsdale (from TV's Herman's Head) plays a teenager who grows paler and wears sunglasses more frequently as he confesses his fear of encroaching vampires to an incredulous psychiatrist.
