Cafe Romeo

(Rex Bromfield, Canada, 1991)

Cafe Romeo is a listless Canadian telemovie attempting to mix elements from True Love (1989) – frantic preparations for an upcoming Italo-American marriage; Betsy's Wedding (1990) – one of the boys is a collector for the Mob; Once Around (1991) – all personal problems are solved by the entire family; and Diner (1982) – much of the action happens in and around a cafe.

As directed by Rex Bromfield and written by Robert Procopio, it takes an entirely predictable and lazy course through the problems of love, work and sociality. Catherine Mary Stewart (Dudes, 1987) and Jonathan Crombie star.
