White Light

(Al Waxman, USA, 1991)

White Light is a strange mishmash of elements, directed by veteran television actor Al Waxman.

Ostensibly a police thriller showing off the large, bare chest of its B movie star (Martin Kove), it quickly steps into a New Age realm of near-death experiences, visions of past and future lives, karmic vibrations and sensitive romantic interludes for our hunky hero.

Memories of Altered States (1980) and Flatliners (1990) mingle with strictly by-the-numbers scenes of roaring cars and mob shoot-outs.

There has never been a movie like this, and there may never be again.
