Out for Blood

(Richard W. Munchkin, USA, 1993)

Kickboxing star Don "The Dragon" Wilson is no Christopher Lambert when it comes to standing still and uttering his lines. Out for Blood is an action film made on probably a fraction of the budget of the contemporaneous Lambert vehicle Fortress (1992).

But, within its limits, it's an involving genre piece.

Director Richard W. Munchkin moves this formulaic story of a grieving, amnesiac cop driven to become a crime-fighting street vigilante at lightning pace. The kinetic visual effects of strobe editing, and the repeated, hyperreal flashbacks to the hero's violent primal scene, certainly enliven proceedings.
