A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master

(Renny Harlin, USA, 1988)

If you think the sight of a teenage girl preparing to combat the evil "dream master" Freddy Krueger by strapping onto her body various tokens of her dead friends is silly and/or hilarious, you are in no position to appreciate this sometimes quite remarkable teen-horror film.

Director Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, 1990) handles the shocks and gags typical of the Elm Street series with great verve, adding a salutary seriousness and intensity.
