From the Hip

(Bob Clark, USA, 1987)

Keen film viewers know that any title which receives a BOMB rating in Leonard Maltin's Movie and Video Guide must be at least worth a look.

Such is the honour bestowed upon this curious mixture of courtroom thriller and wild-and-crazy teen movie.

Director Bob Clark (Porky's, 1981) achieves a rare frisson from the pairing of cocky lawyer Judd Nelson and ambiguous villain John Hurt – and from the lightning alternation of comedy and drama.
